CRYSTAL
BEACH, Ontario, Canada is a quaint historic town is located in the Region of Niagara on the SANDY
SOTHERN SHORES of LAKE ERIE, about two hours south of TORONTO. I live a 45 minutes drive away in NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE near Lake Ontario. NIAGARA
FALLS with its new Casino and many tourist attractions are a scenic 20 to 30 minute drive away. The city of FORT
ERIE is the home of the historic old FORT
NIAGARA, site of a major 1812 battle. The Fort is restored
and opens for tours. The famed beautifully landscaped Race track/slots
and exciting THOROUGHBRED RACING in Fort Erie is about a 10 minutes drive. The International border and the city of BUFFALO with its cultural activities are about the same distance.
Lake Steamers from Buffalo dropped
off American visitors for more than 100 years. But to this day
most Canadians still have not found the peace and beauty of sunny
skies and sandy beaches as they all headed north to the Muskoka's.
My Crystal Beach Cottage was built
in the 20's. By the 40's dancing and the Big Bands were all the
rage at the Crystal Ballroom on the beach. They hosted orchestras
like Glenn Miller and the Dorsey Brothers. The war was over and
the village was alive with happy people. Beaching during the days
and dancing the nights away become a way of life. The Park closed
in 1989. To-day a new gated housing development worth $100 million
dollars has been built in its place and has contributed to the
revitalization of the community. The ballroom and rides are gone
but the memories live on.
The town is now part of the city of
Fort Erie which offers a high level of services that you might
only expect in larger centres. Crystal Beach fans come from all
walks of life but the town has been able to retain a lifestyle
pace that is relaxed and causal. Walk, cycle or roller blade
along the towns paved streets or leisurely stroll our tree lined
streets and take time to smell the flowers. In return, please keep
this hidden cove of beach side life as Canada's best kept secret. THE
BEACH IS THE LIFE.
COME EXPERIENCE THE FLAVOUR OF NIAGARA,
I WOULD BE DELIGHTED TO HOST YOUR VISIT.
